Edda Pureheart ✧ Final Fantasy XIV

[personal profile] deadahead 2018-06-29 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: Edda Pureheart
CANON: Final Fantasy XIV
AGE/AU AGE: 18/25
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Blackbosom
OCCUPATION: He...ro?
PERSONALITY:
Admires Altruism/Heroism
Easily Influenced/Manipulated
Studious
Affectionate
Romantic
Obsessive
Determined
Unstable
HISTORY:
Edda and her childhood friend, Avere, grew up with hopes of being heroes together, having fallen in love in middle school and deciding to follow one another into U.A.
Avere wasn’t good enough to get into UA; Edda, however, passed. Despite this, she couldn’t imagine her high school life without Avere, and followed him to a different school.
In truth, Avere had somewhat convinced Edda she couldn’t really be a hero without him, as she didn’t really know how to do much of anything. Edda, trusting in him, took his word to heart.
Avere was actually deathly afraid Edda would leave him for someone better and convinced himself and her that she couldn’t find anyone that would love her like he does.
Edda and Avere, living together, wound up being low-grade heroes after high school, mostly doing sidekick work in different offices. Edda mostly kept to lesser tasks, thinking she was not good enough for anything else, even though she grew terribly bored and frustrated. Edda was slowly being convinced by the office manager that she was more than an office drone and her quirk was actually incredible if used for good.
When Edda finally was convinced that she could be a great hero - that all her hard work had paid off - she wanted to discuss it with Avere and see how they could achieve it together. She believed if she was better, Avere must’ve been more amazing than she recognized.
This never came to fruition. Edda was texting him as she missed her last train, mentioning great news and how their lives were going to change, but Avere didn’t seem as enthusiastic. He seemed more angry at Edda than anything. Edda finally got home and found Avere gone from their apartment, so she went out to find him.
However by the time she managed to get to his usual spots, she found him up against a villain, one completely out of his league, one with a abnormally large scythe. When he noticed Edda, he shouted for her help, but in a panic, Edda stumbled and cried, trying to activate her quirk and Avere - with a terrified and pained expression, suddenly saw the ground for an instant before it all faded to black. Right before her, Edda watched Avere get decapitated.
Edda can’t recall much after that, but she did find herself looking into Avere’s eyes, his head cradled her in arms. Meanwhile, the villain had met a rather violent death. As the police and pro-heroes began to show up, Edda left the scene, taking Avere’s head with her.
After the incident some years later, Edda is now a pro-hero, albeit not as bright-eyed and optimistic as she used to be. Her tone carries a rather menacing sound even as she smiles at the villains she faces, but with the other heroes, she seems to be rather fond and admiring of them. Edda is managed by an agency that carries no prominent heroes to speak of, but she is their quiet secret weapon - they’re just all afraid of her.

QUIRK:

Cold Feet
Edda’s quirk requires she be able to strike you with an ethereal scythe, a massive weapon of purple flames that is visible to the human eye upon her summoning it. The scythe will not kill the target, but it will lock them into place to suffer a sudden irrational fit of terror. People of a more fearless nature can be more resistant to this initial attack (the scythe will pass right through them and Edda will not lose it. If it strikes, the scythe disappears). If Edda cannot do this first move, she cannot perform her second move.

Black Honeymoon
If Edda is able to strike the target with her scythe, they will become immobile with overwhelming fear. Upon this happening, the target will be able to see Edda’s “Minion” - an object so distorted and warped that it can be difficult to tell what it is right away. After the summoning, the person will likely feel like they can move again, provided their fear subsides or they notice they can.

Edda’s condition for a minion is that she must possess the object that she cherishes deeply for it to be converted into a minion. The object does not need to be on her person, but it cannot be destroyed or the Minion dies as well. To create a Minion from the object, she must: 1) Love the object; 2) Use her scythe on the object; 3) The object must also be “inanimate.” All three conditions must be met to deem an object a “Minion”. Without a chosen Minion, or if Edda’s love for the object fades, her initial quirk, Cold Feet, will not work, and the scythe will continuously pass through her targets without effect.

If successful, Black Honeymoon allows Edda’s Minion to attack the target, which can cause overwhelming damage depending on the Minion’s time with Edda. The longer she keeps the object, the stronger the Minion becomes, however if the Minion is attacked (once made visible to the target, it is vulnerable), its strength can be reset to minimal and time will have to pass for its strength to grow again. When the Minion is officially summoned, Edda’s only power is controlling it. To defeat the Minion, the target will either have to fight it or Edda will have to give up. In this vein, Edda being attacked can be effective for others in the fight, but the original target will be left dealing with her Minion. Currently Edda’s minion is Avere’s Head, warped into a blue husk with a gold helmet and wings.

COSTUME:

Edda can see the Minion of choice on her shoulder in a smaller size. Upon summoning, it can get rather… large.

Takumi Hijirihara | Killer Killer

[personal profile] killerkiller 2018-06-29 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: Takumi Hijirihara
CANON: Danganronpa Gaiden: Killer Killer can i put killer killer for short pls
AGE/AU AGE: Canon: 18~20/AU: 25
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Killer Killer N/A.......
OCCUPATION: super low-ranking "hero" because he's lazy 89% of the time Teacher specializing in Villain Psychology
PERSONALITY:
- Lazy.
- Likes dark, confined places. Lockers are his usual place to hang out, next to underneath sinks. He will also invite anyone to join in on the space.
- Kind of gloomy and doesn't look like he has enough energy. Doesn't go out of his way to socialize, would rather sleep in a locker.
- Honest, sometimes to a fault.
- some bullshit deduction skills Pretty observant.
- Super passionate about crazy murders
- Easily falls in love but when he does he gets heart attacks and collapses.
- Has a habit of grading murder styles.

HISTORY: Canon info. Instead of his middle school class getting massacred during the killing game, a villain does. He survives from the attack when his friend shoved him into a locker as the killing started, but witnessing everyone killed from behind the locker door fascinated him so much that after the incident ended with the heroes coming in to save any of the remaining students and the villain captured, he starts to look into heroism while studying about villains.

He becomes a hero, but because of his personality he doesn't pick up on popularity all that much, but because of his knowledge he picks up being a teacher.

Because of the incident and him being a minor at the time, all information regarding himself or the school had been censored... but if you actually dig into history enough, people can realize it's him.

QUIRK: Absolute Death Precision Cut
He is able to cut through almost anything from determining the weak points of the object (or person) he's trying to cut with rapid speed. There is a limit to size and density, where he won't be able to slice buildings in half like how he does in canon...ridiculous, but he can easily slice off fingers with a swipe using a knife.

The quirk by itself is pretty useless aside from being able to pinpoint places to cut, he needs to get a bladed weapon to become dangerous. What he'll be able to cut will be determined by the weapon he wields: with a small knife he'll only be able to slice off fingers. Larger knives, perhaps an arm.

He doesn't have superhuman strength like the manga so the bigger the weapon becomes, the slower he'll be. He'll prefer to use medium knives/swords since he'd like to keep his nimbleness.

He also needs to actually see unlike the fucen manga, so if he's blinded he won't be able to use his quirk. Nor will he be able to effectively use it under limited eyesight like in the dark. Having too much light will put a strain on his eyes as well and will not be able to keep using his quirk for too long.

He needs to get a good look to be able to determine where to cut. You can compare it to an artist drawing a portrait of someone: the closer he inspects the better accuracy will be. His quirk will not work on photos or videos. Effectiveness will diminish when he tries to refer his observation to another person, dependent on the skill of the person utilizing the information.

COSTUME: No costume, since he's too lazy to think of one. Has a couple small knives as well as one at the length of 30-60cm. He'll be dressed in a suit because he probably doesn't have any fashion sense.

Blaze the Cat | Sonic the Hedgehog

[personal profile] curseofflames 2018-06-30 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: Blaze Verulia
CANON: Sonic the Hedgehog
AGE/AU AGE: 14 / 15
HERO ALIAS: Burning Blaze
OCCUPATION: Student (Hero)
PERSONALITY:
  • Takes heroism extremely seriously, and carries herself with a solemn, dignified bearing well beyond her years.
  • Reserved and aloof; avoids social contact and insists on working alone. Tends to speak bluntly.
  • Has no patience for fooling around and can be rather judgmental, scorning those who engage in what she deems pointless frivolity.
  • Has zero mercy for villains. Goes all out in every fight she's in.
  • In stark contrast to her apparent stoicism, she's inwardly highly emotional, something she struggles to repress.
  • Extremely headstrong. Once her mind's set on something it's nigh impossible to persuade her differently.
  • Has a seriously fiery (...sorry) temper, which can drive her to act recklessly if it gets the better of her.
  • Socially awkward due to both a lack of interpersonal contact as a child and just being a naturally shy person. Despite striving to maintain a distant civility, she's easily flustered or irked.
  • Quite lonely, deep down. In her heart of hearts she considers her Quirk a curse that has prevented her from ever getting close to anyone.
  • Ultimately a kind soul. She genuinely cares about protecting people.
HISTORY: The only daughter of two accomplished pro-heroes, Blaze has had it drilled into her since the moment she first manifested her Quirk that it is her duty to help the innocent. She initially struggled to control the flames, which fluctuated wildly depending on her emotional state; this made her a pariah among her peers, which coupled with her strict upbringing meant she spent precious little time around other kids growing up.

Though with only the best of intentions — unlike others we could name, they're good heroes, genuinely invested in justice and the welfare of the people — Blaze's mother and father placed such severe pressure on her to follow in their footsteps that she... can't really be said to have much of a childhood. She quickly learned to put a tight lock on her emotions, focusing solely on her duty as a hero.

By the time she is enrolled in UA, Blaze has already spent years both honing her physical abilities and practicing the use of her quirk under her parents' guidance. Quite frankly, she's impatient to get what she views as the formalities out of the way so she can start doing some real good.

QUIRK:
Sol Flare
A pyrokinetic Quirk passed down through Blaze's family that enables her to generate intense flames from her body. The hands and feet make for convenient focal points, but any part of her can expel scorching heat. It also allows her to bend naturally-occurring fires or even those born of other quirks to her will or quash them entirely.

Combining the power of her quirk with her natural grace and agility and near-lifelong practice, Blaze can deliver swift and destructive flaming kicks and even turn her entire body into a whirling tornado of fiery death. She can use jets of fire from her feet to propel her forward at great speeds, boost her jumps to incredible heights, or hover in the air, slowing her descent to a controlled glide (true flight is beyond her capabilities).

The primary limitation of Sol Flare is that it is strictly close-ranged in nature. Any projectiles like fireballs that Blaze creates will peter out after traveling only a moderate distance, and manipulating other flames likewise requires her to get close enough to touch... which is a dangerous prospect. While the quirk does grant her significant resistance to heat and fire, she is by no means immune, meaning that she can very easily injure herself should she use her powers at their full capacity without special protective gear. Like many fire-based quirks, intensive use also runs the risk of overheating her body, leaving her weakened.

Furthermore, it is something of a volatile quirk. If Blaze isn't careful, it may flare up without her intent should her emotions grow particularly strong. (Her resultant repression of her feelings has unfortunately only made the instances in which this does happen all the more severe.)

Yes, it's an elemental quirk. Fire is her thing. It's, y'know, in the name and all. I like to think I've done enough with it to make it interesting, at least?

COSTUME: Something at least aesthetically similar to her canonical outfit, perhaps closer in colors to her Burning form. Maybe drop the heels, though. As suggested above, her hero costume is made entirely of highly flame-resistant material.

Even out of costume, she always — always — wears custom-made gloves and shoes. Just in case.

Considering I know the character rather well, I like how this is basically pretty close to canon while still giving her some inhibitor on her quirk. Works out nicely, I think! Also accounts for the thing Sonicverse just ignores entirely like WHY AREN'T ALL THE CLOTHES ON FIRE, WHY CAN WE BREATHE IN SPACE, etc. You're set!

CHARACTER NAME: Shiemi Moriyama
CANON: Ao no Exorcist ( Blue exorcist)
AGE/AU AGE: 15
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Herooooooo
PERSONALITY:

❀ Shiemi can be described as a shy girl who lacks confidence in herself.
❀ The type of person who wears their heart on their sleeve
❀ Loves gardening as a hobby and she gives plants weird names sometimes.
❀ incredibly loyal, trustworthy and reliable once you get past her shyness
❀ She wants to grow into a strong individual so she can stop relying on her friends all the time.
❀ Can be a bit too hard on herself on occasion
❀ Her personality is often compared to dandelions and weeds: resilient, stubborn and hard to deal with sometimes.

HISTORY: Shiemi is still very much like her canon counterpart...she was raised in a sheltered environment. Spends most of her time tending indoor gardens. Rarely leaves the house. As a young girl she admired heroes and tried to be like one!! Unfortunately, her own shyness kept getting in the way of that. All she could do was watch people from afar.

One day she discovered her quirk and realized that she should just get out there and try to do her best!! She's always eager to meet new heroes and learn new things.

QUIRK: She can summon the greenman, Nee because....I talked to Kris on ffxiv and told me it's okay.

Shiemi has to summon Nee using a plant as a catalyst. Nee can create fruits and veggies out of seemingly nowhere. Sadly, she's only allowed to grow smaller ones until she trains her quirk more.

I guess this would fall under transformation.... We're just transforming plants instead of people.

COSTUME: Probably some traditional Japanese Kimono.

CHARACTER NAME: Hanamaru Kunikida
CANON: Love Live Sunshine
AGE/AU AGE: 15
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: haven't thought of one yet!
OCCUPATION: student
PERSONALITY: - loves to read, loves to eat
- normally a bit of a quiet, nice girl
- ride or die for her friends
- tiny bit of self-esteem issues, doesn't really think she's cut out to be a hero.
- can get slightly sarcastic if needed
- doesn't know shit about technology.
HISTORY: Grew up in a temple, old-fashioned girl with a bit of an accent and a stupid anime verbal tic, always idolized superheroes but never really thought of herself as the type to actually be a hero except whoops, now she's at UA
QUIRK: this is the thing I'm having trouble on: I can't think of a good quirk for Hanamaru. I definitely want it to be something less flashy, more tailored to the general class than the hero class. Maru's thing in canon is that she thought she was never good enough to be an idol (and she still occasionally doesn't have much self-esteem on the idol front), but she's joining anyway to support her friends. So as for quirks, I'd like something that's either a bit generic, a bit understated, or something that doesn't seem all that impressive, but with the right training it can be a bit more impressive than it lets on.

...I just don't know what sort of quirk that would be, tho.
COSTUME: whatever Love Live idol outfit I decide would fit best, lmao

Maybe it can be something tied into her confidence? Like the more confident she gets, the better the quirk. So that could be one thing, unless you want to play it as her lack of confidence is what hinders her quirk's full potential, not that it relies on it. Totally up to you there.

What other traits does she have? I'm not canon familiar with Sunshine, just the first series. Does she have an active imagination? You could play with something to do with her love of books as well.

CHARACTER NAME: Francoise Arnoul
CANON: Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier
AGE/AU AGE: Canon: 59 / AU: 35
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: 003
OCCUPATION: Retired Pro Hero, currently working in U.A. Part of the support department, also teaches 2nd year English for all departments
PERSONALITY:
•Very soft and affable, albeit putting herself a polite distance from others.
•Carries a refined air thanks to her early years in the competitive world of French ballet.
•A weird oxymoron from above that she's so refined even when she does traditionally masculine things like fixing a motorcycle engine. Blame living with her brother and then dorming with 8 men and a boy.
•The mom friend. She will befriend and then cook people food. She also moms her students.
•She hasn't forgotten her middle-to-lower class routes, she tends to be thrifty.
•A tad cynical after her time as a pro hero.
•Has a self-depricating humor, she'd be the first person to poke fun of her being single at age 35.
•Secretive; a side effect of her quirk meant that she would know the hushed discussion or the most talked rumor, and that means she would be everyone's confidant whether they agreed to it or not.

HISTORY:
Francoise was born and raised in Paris, her parents died from an accident when she was a small child, leaving her older brother Jean raising her. Her quirk manifested a little after her parents' passing and it overwhelmed the little girl because it was constantly active to some extent. This puts her older, quirkless brother to confusion as the only people who would have any idea to help her control her quirk would be their parents. The only thing that seems to calm Francoise down -even if temporarily- was if she focused on films, this lead to the siblings playing random films for most of childhood.

Until by chance, their streaming service recommend them a 1948 film called the Red Shoes.

Never had she been as entranced as she was watching the Red Shoes. And somehow, with her picking up ballet not long after, it taught her the focus and balance she needed. Her body needed to get the timing and rhythm right as much as her mind needed to reorganized her attention to things outside of what her quirk picks up.

Eventually however, the promise of a degree in Electronics Engineering made her drop her dream as a ballerina. Her deligence shined through in college, at age 22, a russian scientist named Isaac Gilmore recruited her as part of the Gilmore Foundation's international hero team; the 00s. In her rookie years as 003, she mostly acted as mission control, giving the team intel or support needed. But over the years the team was active she gradually upgraded her equipment and learned to stand her ground in the field of combat.

The 00s eventually disband after nearly a decade of activity, their disbandment spread around like wild fire but no one seems to know the exact reason why they went on their separate ways. Everyone involved with the Gilmore foundation and the 00s are tight lipped about the whole thing. The real truth being that it was a combination of the heavy injuries the team had suffered in their last operation and rather controversial history their employer Dr. Gilmore has. With the risk of Gilmore's past being revealed to the public, everyone had a mutual agreement to simply end disband albeit not without some shout matches from certain members of the group. Some members continue on with their careers while others like Francoise choose to retire from being a pro hero.

I'm sorry I had to TL;DR this...

QUIRK:
Radar
Francoise's quirk gives her enhanced senses by default, though especially in sight and hearing. It's a toned down version of her canon enhancements, her hearing reaches up to 4 km square in radar fashion and her sight can reach up until 4 km. Adding a little more to that, her ears picks up sound frequency up to 64 Hz on average, similar to a cat.

While her quirk is constantly active, with further concentration, she has advanced thermoception than most humans and her hearing also increases from 64 Hz to 100 Hz. Both of these qualities allow her to further accurately locate any item or person within her range. When concentrating, her eyes will glow green thus anyone would notice when she's really pintpointing something. She can only hold onto this concentration mode for as long as 3 minutes.

The biggest drawback of her quirk is that it requires technique and management. Think like Daredevil's own radar senses, it's always on but it needs to be checked up constantly because otherwise it's just a torture of overwhelming senses. Her concentration mode while powerful leaves her drained and dealing with chronic headaches if it lasts longer than even a second beyond her limit. Both in and out of costume she requires using a special headgear to dampened most of the quirk's effects, she wears a headband out of costume that's design to hit pressure points to help lessen the pain. On worse days she has to drink painkillers to numb the pain that comes from sensory overload.

COSTUME:
Her costume is more in-line with her Call of Justice design, in that it's more designed for stealth recoinsance. The only other change to her uniform however is that she wears special eyewear to hide her eyes during combat, they also function as a dampener to prevent her limitation to some extent. However, since she officially has retired as a hero, she'd be seen more in her regular business attire. If Jurassic World can have its main heroine outrunning a fucking T-Rex in pumps, so can she.

Considering she's an adult and an ex-pro, it's not unreasonable for her to have such a strong quirk, so no worries about it being OP. It has good inherent inhibitors.
